Once you send in your completed form, you will be contacted by one of the Youth Chapter Chairs to confirm your event.  Please remember that the OA, like a scout troop is run by the youth members.  Not all scouts have constant access to computers.  Be patient, as it may take a day or two to get back to you.  If you feel that there is a delay in getting a response, email the Adult Advisor at ceremonies@tisquantum.org before it becomes an issue.

Ceremony Teams

The Lodge has a Chapter that serves each district, but due to demand, we may have scouts from another district help out with your event.  If you know there are members of the OA in the troop your scouts are crossing over into, ask their Scoutmaster to get them involved with the ceremony.  Having scouts from your troop participating in the ceremony makes it more meaningful for the Webelos, and is a great way for the older boys to begin their leadership journey!

The local Chapter Ceremony Teams have put forth a terrific effort to prepare, train, and create regalia for the Arrow of Light and Crossover Ceremonies.  Congratulate them after the ceremony, and let them know how much it helps your program.

Yours in Cheerful Service,

John Houlihan
Tisquantum Lodge
Ceremonies Adviser

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Does the OA bring the Bridge?

A. No. The pack is expected to supply the bridge and any other prop.

Q. Does the OA Bring the Candles?

A. No.  Candles are not always allowed, so it is up to the pack to take care of candles if they are to be used.

Q. How long is the ceremony?

A. About 20-30 Min.  It depends on how many scouts there are

Q. Not all my scouts earned arrow of light, can they still come?

A. Typically we recommend yes.  If they will not be part of the arrow of light ceremony, but will cross over just let us know in the special instructions area, but it is up to the pack leadership and family.

Q. Some of the Webelos are not going to Boy Scouts, What should we do?

A. Typically we recommend that they cross the bridge and stand to a side next to the troops.  It is up to the pack leadership and family.

Q. Our pack has the ceremony out side with a fire.  Can you still do a ceremony for that?

A. Yes.  Several packs in the council have outdoor ceremonies.  The pack is responsible for all arrangements for the fire.  Please keep in mind the Ceremony Team wears regalia that have feathers, and other items with a low melting point – Please have plenty of water on hand, and keep the fire to an appropriate safe size for team.
